Thanksgiving weekend…

Well we had a great Thankgiving Weekend… we got some house work done and on Sunday I made a big Thankgiving supper with all the fixings… I roasted my first Turkey, made roasted Garlic mashed Potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, maple glazed carrots, Roasted acorn squash, homemade bread and made butter for the first time and then of course a few desserts… Apple pie, pumpkin pie and raisin butter tarts.

Everyting turned out so yummy and though it was a lot of work it actually wasn’t too bad…

Thanksgiving Supper

My mom came for supper on Sunday and then stayed until early yesterday afternoon… it wasn’t too bad but there is still tention there and I really don’t enjoy having her around much… After supper, My next door neighbor invited me and Simon to go have a little dip in the spa… again she had it at a perfect temperature so I could stay in there for as long as I wanted without the risk of raising my temp…. it was great… It wasn’t too cold out for an October night, just perfect and the moon was still quite full and the stars were bright… it was so nice… (I brought her some apple pie)

On Monday, Simon’s mom and sister came by with sis’ new boyfriend…it was really nice to meet him and they make such a cute couple… he is really nice too… It was a gorgeous day… Simon got help getting the steps out of the pool and he put some of the summer furniture away and raked some leaves… The smokers (MIL & SIL) were pretty good and stayed in the front of the house near the end of the driveway so besides the stink that was on them I didn’t have to smell or look at people smoking in my yard or especially near the kids…My mom, who smokes something other than cigs went in her car…

Since it was such a gorgeous day we all stayed outside as much as we could and the boys helped Simon bring the leaves next to the fire using a tractor I bought for Xavier last year for his birthday… (for 5$)… It was great to see both boys work and play so well together…

Anyways… here are some pics…

Roger…

Today would have been Roger‘s birthday.

I miss him everyday. I don’t think that there is a day that goes by that he doesn’t pop into my head. Somedays it is just in passing, others it makes tear come.

This weekend is Thanksgiving and I am making a traditional supper again, just like the one I made a few weeks before he left us. I just wish that he was here to share with us. He woud have been so much in love with Xavier and Colin. It makes me sad that Colin will never have any memories of his Pops, Xavier however still has many, which is so surprising to me and makes me feel so happy.

I miss him so much.

Colin napping…

He was just too cute, I had to take a pic…

Ow!!! that hurts!

This morning I got the bureau for the boys delivered… an old bureau that I found second hand on Monday… the men that brought it in moved the big rocking chair that I had in the front so that they had a clear passage to the door… they put the bureau in the boys room and then left but did put the rocking chair back… so I went to move it and underestimated the weight and it caught my big toe… it hurt but not too badly…. then within a second it started to hurt more… then I noticed that it had completely ripped off my big toenail and it was hanging by the tiniest peice of skin and there was quite a bit of blood..

So I cleaned it… and then wondered how I was going to bandage it, I have had nail problems in the past but that hurt like crazy!!! I mean… OUCH…. the skin under the nail is SO sensitive and I didnèt have anything on hand to clean it well… so I decided to call the CLSC line… (a nurse).. and the nurse said to go to the CLSC and see a nurse there and they will show me how to bandage it so that nothing sticks and also just to see the toe to see the swelling etc… So I packed up the kids went there and got that done… it actually went really fast and not only is nice and bandaged but she also gave me all of the suplies to do it myself…

anyways… now I am back home and the toe is throbbing and hurts like crazy still…

2 years old…

It is hard to believe… Colin turned two last weekend…

We had a quiet weekend, just us and a good friend and had a small party… not much… a few balloons, Foods that Colin likes and a cake…

Colin is so different than Xavier… his language skills are so much better at the same age and he is already talking in sentences often. He is completely in the two’s… saying no, making trouble, hitting Xavier over the head with toys and everything else a little brother can do to bug his big brother… (of course, Xavier doesn’t make it easy for him)

Colin loves to sing songs, and loves music and dancing… His favourite songs are the ABC song, Twinkle Twinkle and loves singing “Elmo’s World”… Simon put a bunch of kids songs and theme songs on his Ipod and he has special requests when he is in the car..This of course is the complete opposite of Xavier who used to cry and scream as a baby when you tried to sing to him and still sings a few notes only when he thinks that no one can hear him…

Colin is a little jokester, he loves to make us laugh. He has this face that he does where he scrunches up his nose so much that his eyes are almost closed and smiles showing all of his teeth… the kind of face that you can’t help but laugh, pick him up and kiss him…

About 2 months ago we went shopping and I found a little plush Max and a Ruby from the TV show… He fell in love with them at the store and they have remained his favourites since.. when he is tired he goes into his room, gets them both and comes have Maju to take a nap… at night the same… he must have both…

Some days, often when we are in the car we get back and both of them have soaked ears from where he sucks the tips of their ears…

Colin is also my little cuddle monster. He loves to be in our arms, loves to get worn in the Ergo on Simon’s back, loves to sit down next to me on the couch, under the blankets and watch TV or look at a book.. Again, very different than Xavier.

He also has a great appetite. He eats all day and is always in the fridge looking for food… the first thing that he says in the morning is what he wants to eat… Croissants, Apples, eggs, pancakes, Sushi, Avocados, black olives, Bananas, grapes, pizza, spaghetti, yogourt and Cereal are just a few of his favourites…

I could just go on and on about him…

I can’t believe that my little babe is 2!
Which of course also brings the 2 year anniversary of Tandem Nursing 🙂
