Colin…

on sunday Colin turned 3…
with Colin though this birthday feels a bit different.

l still have that feeling of wow! where does time go?! but then l also think “only 3?”

What an amazing kid he has become. Verbally he is so advanced, so much more than his brother at the same age and now his understanding has caught up with his vocabulary. He just acts and talks so much more older that is surprises me that he was only 2 and now that he is only 3… Maybe it is due to being a second child but whatever it is, I love that we can really have a conversation with him at such a young age.

He is such a fun kid. He make us laugh everyday.

He loves playing the role of someone else… he is often Harry Potter, a puppy, a girl (named Trishay) among others… he plays those roles so well and of course we need to play along….

He loves music and songs, he loves to play with cars, trains and has an amazing imagination.

What a cool kid!!

Happy birthday Colin!

Happy birthday Colin!

Well… that sucks!

My server had a problem yesterday and it crashed my blog and my message board. I got things working again (as you can see) but the accents are all weird in my old posts… I had had that problem in the past when I have upgraded but I forget what I had done to fix it… (I think I had to go through all my old posts and change them one by one though)

I think I still have a lot of work ahead of me 🙁

on another note…

Colin turned 3 yesterday!!! (blog post to come… I was writing it last night just before everything crashed)

ugh…. more problems… the blog was not linking anywhere except for the firs page… I couldn’t do anything…. Finally got it back though but again… the same problem as before…

It still amazes me…

Just after my last blog post last night, Khéna woke up and I went and nursed him back to sleep.

I laid there in the dark and listened to him nurse and swallow the milk that comes from me.

I love that sound.

Lying close to him, nursing him, I smell his sweet scent. My sweet baby boy.

It amazes me that for 9 months now he has been nourished by me, and me alone. That nothing but my milk has made him into what he is today. I gave him those cheeks and those thighs.

He is the third child that have nourished in such a way but it still amazes me.

I wonder…

2 Midwives in Montreal are having to defend themselves after a coroners report came out yesterday after a baby was born still last November. The coroner said that the death could have been preventable and that the midwives were to blame. The details are not clear but there was meconium, aspiration and a loss of heartbeat before birth.

Sad, scary for me to think about but was it really because of the midwives?

If the same would have happened at the hospital (and it does) are the doctors to blame? No, of course not… Doctors make mistakes, they are humans or just don’t have any idea of the real, natural side of birth.

It is really tiring to hear peoples comments about this. If something happens out of the hospital than right away it could have been “preventable” and people should be held accountable. Why not the same for doctors? They do things to women everyday that risk the lives of both the women and the babies, yet they are never held accountable… Why? They risk women’s and babied lives by inducing labour when women are not ready (if you “have” to induce then your body is NOT READY), by managing the third stage, by just intervening whenever the can because of their cookie cut views and protocols instead of letting birth occur naturally. (I have a better post on this)

I wonder if the coroner would have said that the doctor should be held accountable, or is he just like most of the other doctors out there… scared of midwives taking over their jobs and women having control over their own health and well being…

I wonder what this will do to Quebec Midwives…

My little coconut purse…

I found this at a little artisan stand today…

but first a bit of history of it…

The woman that had the stand co-founded a company called eco-coco… and they import fair trade coconut products… the shell of the coconut is usually thrown away but they realized that sanding it down actually makes them gorgeous and now they make products out of that and pay the workers 2X the minimum wage…

http://www.ecococo.org/ is their site (in french only)

So here is my new little treasure…
