A little peace of mind…

Last week I had a response to a message that I had left on the UC board at MDC… It was from mom of soon to be 8 kids that has had a few UC’s already under her belt and who lives just north of Montreal (about 2 hours drive from me). We sent a few PM’s and then we exchanged #’s and she gave me call on thursday night… Though her kids are older we have a lot in common… she is a Homeschooler, UCer, ECer, breastfeeder (she even triandem nursed!) and we just hit it off… IMO anyways…We talked for at least a hour and if it wasn’t so late I think we would have talked more..

Anyways… I was still a bit worried about what to do about registering the birth as even on the group that I had gotten info from many moms had trouble getting things done without the proof of pregnancy etc even though legally they didn’t need it… it wasn’t that they didn’t succeed in the end, it was that it was a lot of energy and arguing…

So, L. told me that before she had had her first UC she had an “illegal” homebirth with a Lay midwife and that she had kept in contact with her and that she is the one that had provided her with the papers and that though she was no longer able to do such she had knew of someone else that could probably help. So the next day I called the midwife that she had told me about. She is one of the most prominant midwifes in Quebec and is on the south shore about 40 min away from me. She answered the phone in an amazingly warm voice and I didn’t even have to finish explaining when she said that she would be glad to help me get the papers after the birth and that she would provide a letter with the proof of the birth and that it would be her pleasure to do so, and then she added that I could call her at anytime with questions or concerns and that she would even leave me her pager number so that I or Simon could give her a call if we have concerns during or after the birth.

It has taken such a load of my back knowing that not only will she helps us out but that she supports our decision to birth unassisted. She had not one negative word to say and was completely encouraging…

ughh…

I wrote a few posts and they got lost…. ughh…. at least one of them was cross posted…

The kids are making me go crazy today… they are in a such a weird mood and are just at eachother and I really don’t have the patience today…

grumble grumble grumble…

Forgot to write about the other night….

It was Isabelle’s wedding shower last Sat night…. I haven’t went out like that is so long and it has really hit me over the last few days….
I knew I was going to be out late and I knew that would not want to drive home alone so I asked Simon to come with me into Montreal (he went to see our friend Martine with the kids)

I got to the house a bit early and met a few other people there… I didn’t know anyone yet I was not shy at all..  She got there a bit after 4:30pm..We surprised her, snacked and the girls started drinking Sangria…
We dressed up the guest of honour Disco Style and really cheesy… (she is very natural so it was really funny)
Then we went out to a mexican retaurant in downtown Montreal and put a sign on her (Future Bride, 1$= a kiss) and sent her around the restaurant and then down on Ste-Catherine street (Montreal’s main street downtown) to give kisses for a dollar.. (she actually gathered about 50$)…
By this time my body was starting to slow down a bit from all of the walking and of course the next thing planned was dancing..
So, we went dancing at the Funkytown… (a popular Disco bar)…. I went up and danced a few times and each time I got tired more quickly…
After dancing and hanging out for about 2 hours we decided to change scenery.. completely… so we walked around on Ste-Catherine again a bit and then went to the 281 (a male stripper club)… it was actually my first time there…
So we sat and watched and laughed and before we knew it we closed the club at 3am…

So at 3:30am I was driving to pick Simon and the kisa up and then had to drive back home (about a 1 1/2 hour drive) and of course Simon doesn’t have his licence so I was the one who had to drive… So we got home at 5:30am… and of course Colin is up soon after…

Sunday was a blur….and I am still tired and sore…

but I would do it all over again 🙂

feeding the freezer….

Well, I have been doing meal plans every week for a few months now… well I missed a few weeks here and there but other then those it is doing really well..

However, when I go grocery shopping and I see something on special (meat most of the time) it has become easy to pick it up and stick it in the freezer… However, sometimes it gets lost of forgotten in the next week’s meal plan and then just stays in the freezer…

Well, I decided that it is time to something… cook it all up before I lose it to freezer burn, make meals out of it all, portion it and freeze the portions… So I am on the journey of feeding my freezer… One of the great advantages to this is for when the new babe arrives… Since I am the only “cook” in the house.. (Simon can manage a few small things) This will be a very useful thing…

Last night I made beef and bean burritos with a homemade enchilada sauce…. Instead of only making enough for the night’s meal and a bit of leftovers I cooked up all the meat I had, used all of the beans and made 10 burritos… cooked up 4, used half of the enchilada sauce and froze the rest using a Ziploc for the rest of the sauce…
Today I am cooking a big pot of spaghetti sauce and I will freeze it into meal size portions in Ziploc bags also.. and I am slow cooking some meat I had in the freezer with spices and will make more burritos out of that too since not only do we like burritos but they are easy for Simon to bring to wok for lunch…

I am thinking about every few days making a big meal and feeding the freezer each time…
