Forgot to write about the other night….

It was Isabelle’s wedding shower last Sat night…. I haven’t went out like that is so long and it has really hit me over the last few days….
I knew I was going to be out late and I knew that would not want to drive home alone so I asked Simon to come with me into Montreal (he went to see our friend Martine with the kids)

I got to the house a bit early and met a few other people there… I didn’t know anyone yet I was not shy at all..  She got there a bit after 4:30pm..We surprised her, snacked and the girls started drinking Sangria…
We dressed up the guest of honour Disco Style and really cheesy… (she is very natural so it was really funny)
Then we went out to a mexican retaurant in downtown Montreal and put a sign on her (Future Bride, 1$= a kiss) and sent her around the restaurant and then down on Ste-Catherine street (Montreal’s main street downtown) to give kisses for a dollar.. (she actually gathered about 50$)…
By this time my body was starting to slow down a bit from all of the walking and of course the next thing planned was dancing..
So, we went dancing at the Funkytown… (a popular Disco bar)…. I went up and danced a few times and each time I got tired more quickly…
After dancing and hanging out for about 2 hours we decided to change scenery.. completely… so we walked around on Ste-Catherine again a bit and then went to the 281 (a male stripper club)… it was actually my first time there…
So we sat and watched and laughed and before we knew it we closed the club at 3am…

So at 3:30am I was driving to pick Simon and the kisa up and then had to drive back home (about a 1 1/2 hour drive) and of course Simon doesn’t have his licence so I was the one who had to drive… So we got home at 5:30am… and of course Colin is up soon after…

Sunday was a blur….and I am still tired and sore…

but I would do it all over again 🙂

feeding the freezer….

Well, I have been doing meal plans every week for a few months now… well I missed a few weeks here and there but other then those it is doing really well..

However, when I go grocery shopping and I see something on special (meat most of the time) it has become easy to pick it up and stick it in the freezer… However, sometimes it gets lost of forgotten in the next week’s meal plan and then just stays in the freezer…

Well, I decided that it is time to something… cook it all up before I lose it to freezer burn, make meals out of it all, portion it and freeze the portions… So I am on the journey of feeding my freezer… One of the great advantages to this is for when the new babe arrives… Since I am the only “cook” in the house.. (Simon can manage a few small things) This will be a very useful thing…

Last night I made beef and bean burritos with a homemade enchilada sauce…. Instead of only making enough for the night’s meal and a bit of leftovers I cooked up all the meat I had, used all of the beans and made 10 burritos… cooked up 4, used half of the enchilada sauce and froze the rest using a Ziploc for the rest of the sauce…
Today I am cooking a big pot of spaghetti sauce and I will freeze it into meal size portions in Ziploc bags also.. and I am slow cooking some meat I had in the freezer with spices and will make more burritos out of that too since not only do we like burritos but they are easy for Simon to bring to wok for lunch…

I am thinking about every few days making a big meal and feeding the freezer each time…

Ughhs and the good thing about hormones…

OK… well like I mentioned, we got the new mini-van… of course it was used so there could be a few problems with it but I have 3 months warranty and there was already somethings that I had mentioned before buying that the guy had said he would fix and forgot… one thing was a crack in the tail light, another was to replace one of the seatbelts.. well, when I had test driven the car I noticed that the windsheild was dirty from one of the wipers… I thought to myself to check it out when I got out of the car and got side tracked before I did… after that I just forgot about it… well, it wasn’t dirty it is scratched and it is not fixable but has to be replaced… ughh…

Another thing that I noticed was on the panel for the back door the handle was cracked and will break in a short amount of time… the alignment is also a bit off which was supposed to be fixed at the same time the breasks had been done 🙁

Anyways… This afternoon he had asked me to go by because he had ordered the tail light on Friday when I picked up the car and reminded him about it… I go to a few places to get options about the windshield and was less then happy when I found out that it could not be fixed and would have to be replaced at a price of 350$…

So I go the dealership early and the owner comes up to me and asks me how I am… I say that I am not too good… I told him that I noticed a few more things wrong… Mentioned the windshield and he jumped in saying that I had bought it that way and that I had noticed it before I bought it and to wait a few weeks and just put it on my insurance… I said that I hadn’t noticed and besides… there are other problems and things that he knew about and forgot to fix even though he said he would before…

So, he started taking the seatbelt out from beside the sliding door and I didn’t even look at him and just said that I am really regretting my purchase with him and he asked why… and then mentioned that the alignment was stil not good and that I noticed that the back handle was cracked and that the windshield was really scratched beyond repair… by that time the hormones hadkicked in and there were tears starting and I just felt him getting uncomfortable… So I just said.. Sorry, but I am pregnant, hormonal and didn’t need this and I am just really regretting buying this car from you”.. he then asked me to show him the back handle… I showed it to him and he said that he really had not seen that and that he would have fixed it if he had…

So then he goes back to the seatbelt and notices that he can’t get it out as easily as he though he could and then said to wait a minute and he would be back… He comes back and asks me if I could leave the car with him tomorrow and he would fix the things that he needs to… the seatbelt, the tail light, the back panel, and he will replace the windshield… the alignment will be done again when the garage that does it for him opens again after their holidays…

So tommorrow morning I will call him to come get the car first thing and he will get everything done as soon as he can (though the back panel might have to wait a few more days until he gets the piece he needs if he didn’t get it for tomorrow) and then he said to not worry about it all and just to concentrate on the new babe… I just hope he keeps his word…

New car & finance stuff…

Well, with babe #3 on the way and a 5 seats 3 door 92 minivan we decided that a ew car would be a good thing. I am not too happy about getting a minivan again but I am pretty sure that we are not finished having kids so I don’t want to be stuck in 2-3 years having to change cars again…

So, minivan it is…

I would have rather have had a four door but I found a 3 door in good condition at a good price and was able to get a 2000 which is 8 years better then our previous van…

We did have a bit of trouble getting financing at first (we have a great credit rating, just a lot of debt) but then we changed banks and got a better deal then we could have hoped for.

We were able to concolidate a few things with an equity loan which got rid of most of the debt that we had, the car was included in that and will be saving money eack month. Also, instead of having our home loan with 23 years left on the term we now have 20 so we will be saving interest in the long run and our debt will go down more quickly, or at least in an easier way for us…
I am also working on getting a better budget and saving money were we can… we had a cell phone and I got it cancelled. I was about to cancel our cable but instead got a better deal for a few months (what we had + movies for half of the price that we were paying before)… after that we can cancel or try to get a deal again… At the end of August there is a weekend that we are allowd to have a garage sale without a permit so I will try to do that also to get rid of a few things and get some money…
So in a few months when babe #3 gets here and with Simon at home for 7 months we will be able to make it more easily then we were doing just last month… Things have been a bit stressful lately and I was getting really worried about when Simon would be talking off from work since we will be living with 75% of his income for 7 months… but now I am certain that we can make it without worries 🙂
