Egg hunt…

Dh made a little egg hunt in the back yard today… I am not a big fan of this holiday, it just has no meaning for me except for chocolate… but it was a lot of fun watching the boys look for their eggs… there were 12 eggs in all 6 marked with X and 6 with a C… so the boys would find eachothers and hand them over to the other without a word… Xavier of course was the one who determined which eggs went where in most cases…

Anyways… here are a few pics…

here's one...

Happy Choco Bunny Day

Diaper Free… (mostly)

Of course now that I went and bought some new covers that actually fit, Colin decided that his potty strike is over and that he wants to use the potty again on a regular basis… Hey! it is cool with me!!!
So he has been going diaper free more and more and is getting potty independant… he still can’t get underwear off by himself but leave him bare butt and he heads for the potty sits down and does his business…. there are some misses of course but less and less and some bad positioning at times but he is happy to be going diaper free… and so am I….

I didn’t keep up as much as I wanted to with EC… and then when Colin started his potty strike we just lost the habit… he would scream, cry and arch his back whenever he was on the potty… the only time that he wouldn’t was the morning pee, so I kept the morning one for quite a while but he refused at other times in the day…However, I can see that even though we lost the habit of going often he didn’t lose the habit of knowing when he needs to go and he still has control over it… something that Xavier has to relearn because of contant use of diapers.

Next baby will be a different story though. EC from Birth and Diaperfree as much as we can.

Long walk…

This morning we went to a recreational park that isn’t too far away from here… we had gone there a few times near the end of summer/early fall and then stopped for whatever reason… I plan to go quite more often….
It was a really nice day today… though there is still quite a bit of snow on the ground the weather was quite mild and you can just FEEL that spring is coming… Feeling spring is one of my favorite feelings… It just feels like new things are coming, life is coming back… I really think that I do suffer at times from seasonal depression… my moods are always very in tune with the weather outside… the last week the mild temps have given me a new found energy that I lost for a while…

So we went on the walking trail (there are a few cross country skiing trails also) and we started walking… Colin was on my back and Xavier was just walking next to me most of the time… when we got to the end of the trail I took Colin off my back and let him walk.. he walked about 7/8ths of the way back, a few times I stopped and offered to put him back on my back and he didn’t want to… near the end he started stagering and falling more often, I again offered and again he refused…. he played along the way, getting a stick at times and “drawing” in the snow, colapsing onto snowbanks and examinin trees and animal tracks, both boys were having fun… finally Colin fell while walking and just stayed on all fours for a few seconds… I asked if he wanted to go in the backpack, again he said no… but then laid down on the ground, face down in the snow… I picked him up… he cried a bit… he wanted to walk more but jut couldn’t… I told Xavier to run and I would catch him and that made colin laugh and we walked back to the car…

Xavier was also getting pretty tired near the end…

Just before we got to the car I checked the park map to see how far we had gone.. I seems that we walked about 3 km which means that Colin walked a bit over a KM over hills and everything… pretty impressive I think….

Happy half-birthday Colin!!

Colin is 18 months old today…. He is growing so much, changing so much, becoming such a little boy…

He nows says…

Mama, Papa/dada/daddy, Xavier, Colin, Thank you, up, cat, tea, pipi, caca, baby, bath, Dora, Cheese, jus (for drink or have condiments) Apple, timber, Hi, doggy, Ow, bobo, un (one), deux (two)

He does the following sounds:

Train, meow, pants like a dog, neighs, moos, chicken, fish, monkey, duck (plus a few more)

And the following signs:

Maju, more, all done, butterfly, book, bird, monkey, pig, drink, eat, plane, hello/bye, Sun, diaper (plus a few more)

He is such a joy to have around, he is such a loving and cuddly little boy. He is charming and wants to make us laugh all of the time. He is gentle and silly, outgoing and happy, smiley and just plain cute….(of course… he looks like me 😉 )

Here is a year and a half in pics… (not all of course 😉 )

Colin (First 18 months)

Before Colin was born I remember being scared of not being able to love a child as much as I loved Xavier. Now I have trouble grasping that feeling… the instant he was born, I was in love, I was in as much love as I was with Xavier. I remember feeling that the only difference was that I just didn’t know as well…

Colin makes us laugh every day, it is not only because he is cute and does funny things… he goes out of his way to put a smile on our face… He knows that he can make us laugh…

Colin loves everything and everyone…. he loves to cuddle with Daddy and it doesn’t take long for him to warm up to someone… If you were to come to our home, he would greet you with a smile and say Hi, play at your feet and within a few minutes he would bring you a book expecting you to read to him… He is very attached to mama but doesn’t mind if I leave him with Daddy… He falls asleep on Daddy about half of the time also…

Colin is still not sleeping through the night… well… not “technically”…. he starts off the night in his bed and comes into our bed oon after we have went to bed… he will nurse a bit and then sleep cuddled next to me until morning… I have a feeling that he may nurse at one point during the night but I am not completely sure anymore…. if he does, it doesn’t wake me…

Colin is very sensitive and can get a bit jealous… He doesn’t like to see his brother cry and sometimes looks a bit sad and confused when Xavier is upset… He also is jealous to see his brother nurse… if Xavier nurses Colin will push him out of the way…. He also has one of the most high pitched screams that I have ever heard… I few times strangers have heard him scream and are surprised that he is a little boy….

All in all… Colin is a Joy to be with, he is such a special little boy….

I look forward to seeing him grow…
