Xavier…

Xavier has been so sweet this last little while. He is looking forward to meeting the new baby and cuddles me like crazy… he is also on the verge of weaning I am pretty sure of it…

The last few months he went from nursing 1-2 times a day to nursing 1-2X a week.. it is a bittersweet moment but both of us are ready for it. I have been wondering for such a long time what I would feel when he starting to wean, what he would feel… would I notice it or would it just be one of those things… I think it will be one of those things that he will just stop and before I realize it I will have forgotten the last time he nurses… Each time he nurses now I take the time to appreciate that it may be the last…

He has been really sweet also that he makes sure that I eat and I drink.. if he shares a bite of food with me he tells me to take a second bite for the baby… he fills up my water glass often without me asking and tells me to drink some for the baby…

He is going to be an amazing big brother, I can see it…

Hallowe'en…

Well, yesterday it was Hallowe’en, one of my favourite days of the year… it was rainy and wet, but at least not too cold…  Simon came home from early and we watched a few hallowe’en cartoons and got into the mood…

Colin dressed up in the snake costume that we have that I had found garage saleing a few years ago for 2$ and was Xavier’s costume for 3 years and is often used as a toy also… He wasn’t too happy at first, he hadn’t napped and was in a bad mood but once we got outside and walking he got better…

Xavier finally decided on a green ghost as a costume… so I bought some material about 3 weeks ago and got it done last week… it turned out pretty well though I hadn’t figured in the chance that it may rain and weigh down the material so that he had a bit trouble at the end going up stairs… it wasn’t too bad though and he caught on that he could hold onto the front a bit and he wouldn’t trip…at least the drizzle that was falling when we first went out stopped after about 20 min and though the ari was humid and the ground was still wet it wasn’t unpleasant…

I debated whether I was to go out or not with Simon and the boys especially because my pelvic pain is getting worse and worse… but I just love Hallowe’en and walking in the streets, seeing costumes and decorations and watching the boys trick or treating… reminding me of when I was a little girl doing the same thing…. I told myself that I would come back home before them if my pain was too bad…. the problem with this pelvic pain though is that it doesn’t show up as much when I am walking or doing things really, but hits afterwards… especially at night… and then I regret it…

So we walked and walked…. and walked…. for 2 hours and the boys went from house to house and got candy… building up a loot that I would have been jealous of as a child but now see as a mountain of sugar that I don’t want the kids to consume…

Here are a few pics…

2 years old…

It is hard to believe… Colin turned two last weekend…

We had a quiet weekend, just us and a good friend and had a small party… not much… a few balloons, Foods that Colin likes and a cake…

Colin is so different than Xavier… his language skills are so much better at the same age and he is already talking in sentences often. He is completely in the two’s… saying no, making trouble, hitting Xavier over the head with toys and everything else a little brother can do to bug his big brother… (of course, Xavier doesn’t make it easy for him)

Colin loves to sing songs, and loves music and dancing… His favourite songs are the ABC song, Twinkle Twinkle and loves singing “Elmo’s World”… Simon put a bunch of kids songs and theme songs on his Ipod and he has special requests when he is in the car..This of course is the complete opposite of Xavier who used to cry and scream as a baby when you tried to sing to him and still sings a few notes only when he thinks that no one can hear him…

Colin is a little jokester, he loves to make us laugh. He has this face that he does where he scrunches up his nose so much that his eyes are almost closed and smiles showing all of his teeth… the kind of face that you can’t help but laugh, pick him up and kiss him…

About 2 months ago we went shopping and I found a little plush Max and a Ruby from the TV show… He fell in love with them at the store and they have remained his favourites since.. when he is tired he goes into his room, gets them both and comes have Maju to take a nap… at night the same… he must have both…

Some days, often when we are in the car we get back and both of them have soaked ears from where he sucks the tips of their ears…

Colin is also my little cuddle monster. He loves to be in our arms, loves to get worn in the Ergo on Simon’s back, loves to sit down next to me on the couch, under the blankets and watch TV or look at a book.. Again, very different than Xavier.

He also has a great appetite. He eats all day and is always in the fridge looking for food… the first thing that he says in the morning is what he wants to eat… Croissants, Apples, eggs, pancakes, Sushi, Avocados, black olives, Bananas, grapes, pizza, spaghetti, yogourt and Cereal are just a few of his favourites…

I could just go on and on about him…

I can’t believe that my little babe is 2!
Which of course also brings the 2 year anniversary of Tandem Nursing 🙂

sunny days…

The last few days have been Gorgeous… We were able to do things in the yard, play in the sun, eat outside, go to garage sales (well I did) and we even went swimming Sat, Sun and yesterday… the water was pretty cold on Sat but by Mon it had warmed up quite a bit and was so comfortable and refreshing… it was just one of those perfect days with the perfect temperature…
Of course it had to come to an end and last night we had a big thundershower and of course it was followed by colder air… So now the kids are begging to go swimming cause they had so much fun in the pool (especially yesterday… we spent about 3 hours in the pool between noon and 5…) and it is cool, windy and cloudy and there is no way that I will even get a bathing suit on….

I love being in the pool with the boys.. it is one activity that the boys love equally so neither gets tired of it or wants to leave… and if they do then they just get out and play on the deck… we all laugh and play and just have fun…

I didn’t get any pics of the boys in the pool yesterday since our camera isn’t of the waterproof variety… but here are a few others…

This is our yard….:) (well part of it)

they like it… they really like it!

Well… the bunk bed wasn’t just a success for a few seconds…

Both boys slept in their beds last night and for the first time in Months (actually it is just the 3rd or 4th time in his life) Colin slept through the night before coming into our bed (8-5) .

I think that the difference was that they were more warm and probably way more comfortable then they were in their old beds… Neither of them came into our bed this morning freezing… they were not wearing different pj’s and didn’t have more blankets but I think just having real mattresses made the difference (those plastic crib mattresses don’t hold heat quite well) and probably their new mattresses made it feel a bit more like our bed…

They also have had quite a bit of fun just hanging out in their room and on their beds today… Xavier brought some books up and Colin did to and both sat in their beds looking at books… Thy also played together, Colin gets under his sheet and Xavier pulls it down and then the wrestle…

Colin still has to remember that he can’t stand up in his bed….he has hit his head a few times now… not hard enough to cry but hard enough to want a kiss to make the bobo go away… but even a blown kiss will do 😉

Here are a few more pics from today…
