It was a beautiful day outside so we headed out in to the front yard to play for a few hours… our front yard is not big but in the winter the snow hill is high enough to slide on and off… (last year is was almost twice as high)
and they love to play there…

Colin is always Jumping… (I can’t believe how high he can jump up sometimes!)
Khéna had a lot of fun…

all tuckered out….
Today, there have been many times that Colin has come to me after getting hurt…
So when Colin came screaming and crying after being hurt saying that Xavier hurt him… we reacted by checking Colin out and asking Xavier what happened but he wouldn’t say… and Colin was too upset to be understood except for the mentions of Xavier hurting his head… we told Xavier that we were not too happy with what had gone on…
Because Colin was still so upset, Simon took him into the computer room alone so that he could calm down…. leaving Xavier with me, but of course Xavier wanted to follow his dad and brother so he stayed next to the door and listened to the conversation inside…
When they came out, Colin was calm and came to me and Xavier tried to explain to Simon what happened… Simon couldn’t understand so Xavier showed him…
The boys had taken a playmat that we have and had tied it to the railing of the top bunk… Xavier was in the play castle and was holding the other edge of the playmat and Colin tried to use it as a bridge… Xavier wasn’t strong enough to hold his brother’s weight and Colin fell to the ground and hit his head… so yes, Xavier “let go” and yes… Colin got hurt because of that…
But was anyone in the wrong? Not at all…
I feel bad that I presumed that Xavier had done something wrong but I am so glad that we don’t believe in punishments…
In the end we all laughed together and I am pretty sure that both of them learned their lesson…
It is called “gravity”…
I just wanted to share some of what is fun in our home right now…
Drawing and Playdough are a big hit… especially with Colin and Khéna… Colin can spend hours at a time at the kitchen table with either…
Video games:
Spore and the Lego Series (Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones etc)
Zelda: Twilight Princess (though Xavier and I both finished our games last week)
Board Games:
Meta-Formes Colin likes this one… it is a logic game and you follow the instructions in the book on where to put the shapes…
Architecto I bought this one for Xavier because he loves to build… there is a book with shapes to build and you figure out how to make them with the blocks…
and well… I guess my own love of logic games shows because another favourite… (though it is a new one because I bought it Friday) is
This is a really fun one… the book shows a starting position of the blocks and which blocks to use to complete the puzzle… you need to get the knight to the princess…
Toys:
Lego are always a hit… so are Playmobil…we have a great selection of both…
Khéna is loving any type of vehicle at the moment… and Xavier got a Barrel of Monkeys in exchange for his lost tooth and he plays with it pretty much everyday…
and something that had been put away for a while but just came out again is the marble run… I love our Marble run… we had put it away for a while because there was no place that they could play without Khéna getting at it and making it fall or getting the marbles… but now he is bigger and there is more space because of the changes we made, so we took it out again… it is amazing to see how much Xavier’s abilities have evolved in the time that it was away!

I finally gave two of the boys a haircut… everday I would think about it since their hair was getting in their eyes… Xavier didn’t want one so I’ll either get him another day…. or not if he chooses to have long hair again…

Khéna’s hair is a bit shorter than I wanted because he kept on moving….
Xavier has had a few really loose teeth for a while now…
under his finger was a tooth that has been near to falling out for a few weeks now (he was showing me that it could bend completely over)…. and the top tooth which used to be on the left (he lost the right one a few years ago when he knocked it out on the kitchen floor) has been migrating to the middle of the space for a few weeks has been so loose also…
well… today while eating lunch the bottom one fell out and then while he was playing outside with Colin the top one get knocked out!
It fell in the hill of snow in the front yard… (about 6 feet of snow) and though he and Simon searched for it for a while it was no where to be found…hopefully we will find it in the spring…
anyway…
It just seems so weird at times when I realize that my kid is getting older…
old enough to be smiling at me like this now…
