I am so tired of being sick…

We though we were doing pretty well this year until a few weeks ago… then our systems started to fail us…

colds, coughs, stuffy and runny noses, junky lungs and fevers have made us all miserable in the last few weeks…

during the night, the night before last, I asked Simon to stay home because I was feeling so awful… awful enough that I dreamed that Simon wrote on my blog that I was no longer living… Thankfully, I am still living and Simon did stay home yesterday and helped with the kids even though I was feeling a bit better…

Xavier however was the worse hit yesterday… he stayed on the lounging chair in front of the TV all day, feverish and in and out of sleep only drinking a bit of water, emergen-C and a bit of juice and once in a while shakily walking to the bathroom…

He is still sleeping at the moment, but his fever seems to have broken and hopefully today will be a better day even though we are all becoming a bit stir-crazy…
It seems to fit of course that we are having another winter storm, 25 cm of snow complete with freezing rain to top it off…

newish theme…

With the boys growing the graphic that I had before was getting a bit outdated…. so…. I thought I would revamp the theme of the blog a bit…

I have a few changes that I would like to make still and I think I would like a new plugin or two that I have seen on other blogs but for now at least it looks a bit better…

For those who have blogs and WP… what are your favourite plugins?

oh…. cool…

On the way to and from the pulp and paper museum I saw something that not only caught my eye but made my heart skip a beat…

“Musée des Religions du Monde” (Museum of World religions)

I am so excited to check that place out… I have a feeling that the kids are too young to enjoy it and if they are with me I might not be able to look at the things I want to look at,  so I might head out there alone so I can really look at things…

I can’t believe that I had no idea that it existed though…. I am so glad that I saw it!

simon, the cat, and the rat…

So Xavier is starting to read more words… the “at” words are easy for him now so I have been writing down a few things using those words and a few others that he knows and he has been reading them… what I really like about it is that this is really boosting his confidence and he is feeling really proud of himself and when that happens he want to do more…

So while Xavier was eating lunch I wrote something for him…

and omg… he laughed….

he laughed so much after he read it, and he couldn’t stop laughing for the longest time and wanted to read it again and again…

“Simon sat on the cat. The cat had a rat. The cat hit Simon with the rat.”

then I realized that it was the first time that I made my child laugh by writing something…

this is fun…

so… I went swimming…

and I overdid myself the first day, I think I was a bit over enthusiastic… I did about 20 laps and by the time I was getting into the car I was already sore… I was sore most of the night but wasn’t too bad the next day… just a bit tender…

I went again on Tuesday though and went a bit more slowly… I did about 12 laps… half of those were free style and then the rest were swimming on my sides, backstroke, underwater and using the kickboard to give my arms a rest…

Yesterday I didn’t go… mostly because I would like to get a new pair of goggles before I go again… my eyes are really sensitive to the chlorine and the goggles I have keep on letting water in on one side… which is not only bad for my eyes but really annoying… Of course I can’t expect too much of them after having spent most of last summer in the sun or at the bottom of our own pool because the kids kept on throwing them in… I want to go get a new pair today though because  I want to again tonight… I think I would like for the family to come with me also… since half of the pool is for free swim while two rows are reserved for laps…
