6 months….
wow…. I am about a week late on this post…
Khéna is now 6 months old (as of last Monday)… It is amazing how time can pass so fast…
At six months he is becoming such a little person… he is curious, sensitive, outgoing and shy… he makes us laugh and is just the sweetest little thing…
Though both Colin and Xavier were crawling and starting to pull themselves up by this age, Khéna is taking his time… I think it mostly comes from his weight…
He can sit for indefinite amounts of time and can get from sitting to his tummy deliberately… and when on his tummy he can push himself backwards… so the first steps of learning how to crawl…
He can roll but mostly chooses not to… mostly because it is very rare that we put him down on the floor to do so…
He puts his arms up for us to pick him up…
He says Mama (just started 2 days ago) and is saying more and more sounds…
He loves the water and loved going in the pool for the first time last week (we had a weird heat wave)
He gets upset when he drops a toy or we take it away…
He not only eyes our food but has started to get upset that we don’t share… (I am not sure when we will be starting Solids with him though… I would rather wait another few months… we’ll see)
It is amazing how he has come from this

to this…
Pouding Chomeur (poor man’s pudding)
This is a traditional french-Canadian dessert that was made during the depression era… the ingredients are simple and were cheap and it is one of those staple desserts in french-canadian homes…
(yes… it is full of sugar… but OH so good)
Cake:
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
Sauce
- 3/4 cup Maple Syrup
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/4 cup butter
In a bowl sift flour and baking powder together… in another bowl, cream butter and sugar and add vanilla… then slowly add the milk and flour in alternating 1/4 cup increments until all together and smooth… spread in a buttered baking dish…
for the sauce… in a sauce pan, mix all the sauce ingredients together and bring to a boil… boil for a few seconds and then pour over the cake batter (do not mix)
bake in a 325 preheated oven for 45 min
