down time…

I really hate when that happens… and weirdly enough I hadn’t even noticed until Annie that pointed out to me this morning that the blogs were down…and it must of happened last night because I have no stats at all today… not even a spider…

I don’t know why but Bluehost and and WordPress seem to having trouble together often… and I hate when that happens because my heart drops when I think about when my last back up was… I called bluehost and they checked into it and there were no changes… so I called back and the guy got things back up again…

anyway…

nothings lost but it is annoying…

maybe I should look into a new server when the time comes… any favs out there?

snow pics…

It was a beautiful day outside so we headed out in to the front yard to play for a few hours… our front yard is not big but in the winter  the snow hill is high enough to slide on and off… (last year is was almost twice as high)

and they love to play there…

New pages…

I have been blogging now for nearly four years and have more than 700 posts… not much really when you think of it, but lately there have been  times that I think about writing a post and then remember that I have already written it…

Then when I search I realize  that they are quite far back…  even within the categories…

So I have decided to make things a bit easier and add two new pages to my blog…

The first is a Recipe page with links to all my recipes by category…

My Recipes!

The second is a highlights page… I still have some links to add but it is a page that show some of my favourite posts from over the years all by category also…

easy to find… not only for me, but for others that would like to look back more easily into my archives…

Blog Highlights…

Both links are right on the Sidebar and easy to find 🙂

more on high fructose corn syrup…

I found this article in the news…

tests have found that HALF of the HFCS tested has mercury…

this is disturbing…

MONDAY, Jan. 26 (HealthDay News) — Almost half of tested samples of commercial high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) contained mercury, which was also found in nearly a third of 55 popular brand-name food and beverage products where HFCS is the first- or second-highest labeled ingredient, according to two new U.S. studies.

HFCS has replaced sugar as the sweetener in many beverages and foods such as breads, cereals, breakfast bars, lunch meats, yogurts, soups and condiments. On average, Americans consume about 12 teaspoons per day of HFCS, but teens and other high consumers can take in 80 percent more HFCS than average.

“Mercury is toxic in all its forms. Given how much high-fructose corn syrup is consumed by children, it could be a significant additional source of mercury never before considered. We are calling for immediate changes by industry and the [U.S. Food and Drug Administration] to help stop this avoidable mercury contamination of the food supply,” said the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy’s Dr. David Wallinga, a co-author of both studies.

Though we avoid a lot of processed foods and most junk food, we avoid HFCS… we are lucky that here in Canada, sugar in most products has not been replaced by HFCS as it has in our southern neighbours…so avoiding it even if you do not eat well is still a lot easier…

I just wonder why these tests weren’t done before….

under the weather…

we have a had a few rough days… runny noses, fevers, coughs, throwing up, sore throats and more…

I guess we are lucky because we haven’t really been sick since October but the last few days have taken their toll on us…

Sleeping especially has been hard because fevers come back at night, and laying down means more coughing and throwing up… and then the night before last I pulled a muscle in my back and yesterday I had trouble moving because of it…

Anyway… today we are feeling a bit better, though my nose is running like a fountain…

Tomorrow we have friends coming over for supper and to help move the last of our things…

We just have my bureau to do and then all that will be left are the closets…

Almost done!
