Creme Brule style Baked Oatmeal…

I found a basic recipe on Recipezaar a while back and it has become a staple in our mornings…

Of course, I have changed it to our liking… so I will share my recipe….

Dry mix

  • 2 1/4 cups of oats
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 cup of raisins… or chocolate chips… or both 🙂

Wet mix

  • 1 2/3 cup of water
  • 1 2/3 cup of milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Topping

1/3 cup of brown sugar

preheat oven to 350…

In a bowl… combine the dry ingredients…

In a 9 X 13 baking dish combine the wet ingredients… then add the dry and mix well… place in the oven and bake for about 40-45 min… (the center will be slightly jiggly)

spread the brown sugar over the top and place back into the oven… the sugar will start to melt…

Then broil for about a min or two until the sugar starts to bubble and brown…

Enjoy!!

Oatmeal “pudding”…

This is one of the boys favourite breakfasts… and it tastes like rice pudding…

Oatmeal

3 cups of Milk (I use Vanilla Almond Milk)
pinch of salt
about a tsp of cinnamon

a bit more than a tsp of Vanilla
a tbsp of Maple Syrup (the real stuff of course!)
a handful of raisins
1 1/2 cups of Oats

In a pot, bring mix Milk, salt, Maple Syrup and raisins to a simmer… add Oats and then cook on low until done…

Chocolate Oatmeal Variation: Change the milk to Chocolate milk, or milk + a few tsp of cocoa to taste and leave out the cinnamon…
