Gift dress

A friend of mine’s daughter had her 5th birthday party over the weekend… I didn’t know what to buy her but wanted it to be special… even though my friend and I don’t see each other often anymore we met at the birthing center when pregnant with our first babes and we learned a lot from each other and shared a lot of laughs and some tears…

So I made this on Friday….

Melted Crayons…

I read about this on a message board so I decided to give it a try…

Started the oven at 300F and started filling 4 muffin cups with broken crayons… 10 minutes later the crayons were melted… we watched (or tried to watch) though the oven door to see the crayons melt and Xavier thought it was cool…

Then we took them out and looked at them a bit before we put them in the freezer to set…

They looked really cool but I am not really hapy with the way they turned out… I am not sure that it was because the broken crayons were cheap… or we did something wrong but they didn’t colour much…

It was still a cool experiment though… and I think that I will be trying again with some good old crayola’s…

My first shirts!

ok… this was my test shirt just to practice putting things together etc (no pattern)… the fabric is a bit stiff (it was cheap and I bought it to practice with) and it makes me look a bit pregnant from the side… so I don’t know if I am going to try to fix it a bit so I can wear it or what…
anyway… here it is…

test shirt I made

And then I had enough confidence to make this one… which I am pretty happy with… I was about to make it about the same style but didn’t have anymore of the same elastic… So… I got out the elastic thread and shirred it… I didn’t know how to shirr but it worked…

Shirt I made

Now I am thinking about shirring the bodice part of the first shirt to see if that looks better…
