Just one month shy of my 6 year anniversary of starting this blog…
This, is my 1000th post.
It might not be that much compared to others, as it shows that I don’t post every day, but it also shows that there has been a lot of time and a lot of myself invested here.
When I started out… these were my kids…
(Xavier ~ 2.5y and Colin ~ 7 months)
and now… a thousand posts later…
I am mom to these amazing kids…
We, as a family, have all grown with this blog.
In a thousand posts I have shared the good and the bad, my worries, my joys, my hopes and dreams. I’ve gotten advice, given advice, worked through problems and ranted. It has been a both a place to share and an outlet. I have shared two unassisted pregnancies and births and many adventures. I have shared recipes and crafts and my favourite things…
I want to thank you all for reading and taking part…
To show my gratitude and to mark this occasion I am giving away this hand made by me mini-quilt/table runner made with many of my favourite fabrics…
(I am going to leave this open for the weekend and pick a winner at the beginning of next week)
To participate… tell me what makes you smile…
What a beautiful giveaway…I would cherish this on my table if I win…
Lots makes me smile…but I will share with you what made me smile today…
My 5 year old little autistic boy has many health problems…but today out of the blue Paul decided to try having some of my Kumbucha drink!..not only did he drink his first little sip he drank 1/4 cup of it…It made me smile inside and out…as this is very big in our house to even have Paul be able to try anything new…:))
Beautiful family. And a beautiful giveaway!
My daughter makes me smile. She’s just learning to laugh and I have to smile whenever she tries. Her laugh (and her smile) is contagious.
hi there what a gorgeous runner!! and a beautiful family you have created.. what makes me smile is my kids, how could they not : )
What a beautiful mini-quilt and very very beautiful children! My children make me smile.
That picture of your four gorgeous kiddos makes me smile! I think Xavier and Khena have the same eyes and smile, and Colin shares the most resemblance with Willa. That is so cool.
oooohhh! it is so beautiful! It would be an honor to have that piece on our dining room table 🙂 what makes me smile the most these days is when the kids do something completely new, like sing almost every word from a song they have known since they were born, but used to only know bits and pieces of. It never ceases to amaze me how much they change in such little time! (as you already know)
Congratulations on 1000 blog posts! Your quilt runner is beautiful, I have a buffet in our entry way that it would look fantastic on. 😉
My kids do make smile but honestly, lately it’s been the return of Spring after a looong winter that has me smiling the most. Waking up to bird’s chirping and seeing the sun peaking through our canopy of our own private west coast rainforest has me very happy and full of smiles lately.
I love that you are giving away something that you made…..Oh my, a lot of things make me smile: Stacks of freshly folded laundry, clean sheet day, My older boy wearing his hotwheels in a sling, my little guy holding his hand up and proclaiming “Let me think, let me think”. The growing, kicking girl in my tummy, Little dog antics in the deep snow, fresh eggs, the return of sunshine, the hope of Spring….
fabric makes me smile, yarn makes me smile. my kids make me smile, my dog’s antics with my kids cracks me up!
Mautadit qui sont beau mes p’tits enfants…..et je suis vraiment fière d’être leur ”Mamie”
I have been reading you for years and love hearing about your family and journey as a home birther and homeschooler. Thank you for sharing !
What makes me smile… Being woken up every morning my my sweet boy who showers me with kisses.
Please pick me as I’d treasure your beautiful quilt!
My 3 1/2 yr old makes me smile. We lost our 2nd child, a baby girl, at 32 weeks in January, and he is what makes me pick my self up each day and realize I’m still a very lucky woman.
There are a lot of things that make me smile. The most important (of course!) being my daughter. I love watching her learn and figure things out on her own. She’s 7 months old, and today she figured out how to wave goodbye. She was so happy and proud of herself. How could you not smile at that? 🙂
What makes me smile is length my sons will go to make my husband and I laugh. Like the way they try to speak in silly voices, or try out sarcasm and imitation. Funny faces, and made up jokes. It cracks me up, and puts a big smile on my face!
What a lovely table runner! Quilting is a beautiful art!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and family with us – it’s been very helpful in my own examination of my parenting style. The melting snow is currently making me smile – soon we’ll get the bikes out!
1000 posts! Awesome. You’re such a great source of information for parents out there. Our daily chats make me smile.
Congrats on reaching 1000… here’s to 1000 more!!!
What makes me smile: warm sunny days, a great hug, taking a long relaxing walk, a hot cup of tea… but most of all – my kids (of course). They are the life force I never knew I wanted or needed, but now that they’re here I can’t imagine my day without them.
congrats on 1000 posts! Hurray!
So today during nap time, I was cuddled under the blankets with Hudson next to my tummy softly snoring and Trixie cuddling my back playing with my hair. (This is how we sleep every night, she must have her hands in my hair, it’s sweet really.) As I watched Hudson sleep with his pink pouty lips and felt Trixie running her fingers through my hair, I sighed and smiled. It’s my favourite time of day, like a recharge to recoup from our busy lives and to come back together again after toddler/ preschooler struggles. I love it. And like a grinning fool, I lay there every day and smile. (and sometimes nap)
My children’s appreciativeness for home cooked food make me smile. They know how much better mommas stuff is!
Salut Ma belle,

I only read your blog occasionally (like most of the blogs I follow), so don’t put me in the draw for your lovely mini quilt. I have fabric and am hoping to do some quilting if I ever find the time, so may have something of my own sometime.
Listening to my daughters talking and laughing together makes me smile.
Congratulations on 1000 posts. Definitely an accomplishment with everything else that you do in a day!
I have to say nothing makes me smile like going through old photographs. Especially now that we have a child! It is hard to remember exactly how your baby felt, smelled, smiled, slept when they were newborn. Old pictures bring it all back. Whenever someone else posts pics of their newborn on FB, my daughter always requests that we look at her when she was a baby. I am always willing to re-visit those precious times.
Your children are beautiful and their photos made me smile today. My husband bringing me a hot cup of coffee before I’m even out of bed makes me smile every morning. A simple gesture but oh, so appreciated! Congratulations on 1000 posts to your blog….that is fabulous. I continue to love reading about your family and your thoughts and ideas on so many interesting topics. Looking forward to the next 1000 posts.
