Last night I was in bed, on my ipod touch and wanted to come to my blog to check something out. The easiest way was to write “paxye” in the search engine.
The first link was my blog but then on a whim I decided to scroll down and see what else there was.. to my surprise I found this…
This is NOT me… yet there is my Khéna, my information and my blog link…
OK… I am not naive, I know that putting yourself out on the internet opens the way for people to use your information. Or maybe I am naive in thinking that it probably wouldn’t happen to me.
Whatever the case… It is creepy…
Needless to say… if you are friends with this person on Facebook, it is not me. My Facebook link is under my real name and I now put up a fan page for this blog under “a hippie with a minivan” and once I get 25 fans I will have the link to share…
It makes you think twice to put yourself out there…
UPDATE:
The page has been taken down from Facebook. I received a lot of support from friends and many people reported it. I am so glad and hopefully it will be the end of that…
This is terrible!
Wow. There’s a link on the bottom of the profile page you can click to report the profile. You should do that ASAP if you haven’t already.
Ugh.
I have, and I shared my discovery on my FB page and many of my friends have done so also. I think the more people that do it the better the chances of it being deleted.
That’s so creepy!
Totally creepy! Geesh…why would someone impersonate you? (Not that you aren’t great or anything, but…still!)
Follow up with FB on your reports, daily…a friend of mine had a similar issue, and she had to write daily for about a week before the ‘offence’ was taken off of FB.
Super creepy. Facebook is kinda creepy in general. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had creepy people trying to contact me on Facebook.
Ok totally creepy. It makes you want to retract everything off the net sometimes…I did a search for my email in spokeo.com and my five year old son’s name came up…along with his “shopping” habits. I have no idea where it came from…an Amazon wishlist?
Totally weird! I am starting to wonder if there are people out there who are doing it just to creep others out…
Just so you know, there are not creepy people out there that enjoy your blog and find it really helpful! So thank you!
That is too weird. It would be one thing if it were jus ant impersonation of you, but to use your child’s picture is totally unacceptable. So sorry the world is full of weirdos. This is exactly the type of thing we spend so much time protecting our children from.
That’s dreadfully creepy one thing to impersonate you but to use your child’s photo is strange.
I’m a new reader and I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to share your family life and philosophy. In particular the article on encapsulating your placenta.
Thanks for the support everyone, I am happy to say that it is down!! So many friends reported it and within hours of sharing Facebook deleted the page… 🙂
Wow. That’s scary! I’ve often wondered what is the risk of having a blog out there… I’m glad it was removed so quickly. It’s a good idea to search for yourself once in a while… it’s too bad that we live in a time when this might be needed.
