Yeh I tried to make something from a pattern at high school and just couldn’t get my head around it. I do actually knit, and can do it, I guess because it’s so straightforward and I’ve been doing it since I was a kid. But even with that, when it comes to the stitching together I almost always screw it up. A couple of months ago I made a knitted toy for my daughter and that was about the first time I’ve ever managed to stitch something properly without it falling apart.

LOL.. I have to admit that I was not much of a sewer back in high school. I really started when I was pregnant with Xavier. At first I was pretty awful and the more I practiced the better I became. I hate using pattern though and I am still not very good at it. I much rather make things up as I go along. I might make more mistakes but I learn much more!

I wish I could sew. Unfortunately it’s like that part of my brain is missing. Out of a dozen subjects at school, all with fantastic grades, the only subject I failed was sewing. I just seem physically incapable of doing it. I made a pillow case that ended up half the size it should be, and a chair cover that fit no chair in existence when finished. My friend and I had to build a structure from cardboard boxes to fit under it and take a really dark picture to hand in for my exam, just so I didn’t fail completely! Ha ha.

Thanks!… she knows about it but I don’t think she really gets what it is yet though.. it would be really hard to keep it from her since it is such a big project and takes up so much space!
